I skied today as a guest with the North Toronto Ski Club, one of Toronto's finest non profit ski clubs. North Toronto has a full repetoire of ski and social events and offer a very cool mid week ski escape to the private clubs of Ontario. North Toronto will be celebrating 50 years of ski service, since initiating as a YMCA prorgram.
I have personally taught at 2 of these private ski clubs, and have enjoyed the quality of the hills and the members and staff. Ontario is the only place I know of in North America that I know of that has private ski clubs. I have returned to travelling ski clubs as that is what I am used to, being a former CHOM Powder Hound and Ski bum.
Today we skied Alpine Ski Club, which was originally the enclave of the Jewish Ski community who were not allowed to members of the more Waspy clubs of the Collingwood Escarpment. Wouldn't it be fitting that this start up club has surpassed all the others in quality of runs, snow making, ambience and chalet real estate.
Alpine has recently added a new section with extra steep terrain such as Crescendo, Down Draft etc. The little resort that grew and grew is now the prized gem of the Collingwood private ski clubs. Today was the annual Share Zetek Hospital and Israel Bonds joint ski day, an event that I regularly attend. Wouldn'w it not be destiny that by pure stroke of luck that I would be there to share in this day's festivities and not miss the opportunity to support these two fantastic organizations.
Alpine Ski club rocks with the best. Thank you North Toronto Ski Club for being professional and courteous as Toronto's finest adult travelling ski club.
