I attended the 24th annual Women's Blues Revue by the Toronto Blues Society this Saturday November 27th. I was captured by all that beautiful female charm as they nurtured eachother and put out a beautiful bluesy/folky vibe. The atmosphere was warm and loving, as performers came out in bare feet, sang about their panties and showed off their inexpensive shoes from Viet Nam. Rita Chirelli, actually went into a prison and sang about that experience entitled Thes four Walls. The band was led by Donna a young guitarist who was great to look at in leather outfit and gave her femininty a little edgy sound.
BB King would have enjoyed to see his feminine side take the blues to a new direction.
I was left with a warm and glowing positive vibe from those ladies of blues such as Little Miss Higgins, and Rita Charelli, Robin Banks, Alana Braithwaite.
The Toronto Blues Society gives Hog Town Toronto a much improved cultural dynamic. They search out and promote great Canadian artists, and promote it to the younger musicians. We are lucky to have such a great society in Toronto.
Well worth checking out this annual event.
