It was a snowy Saturday night in Thornhill, but the energy from the musicians and fresh falafel made it a welcome respite from the winter storm raging outside. Cafe Chevra was pleased to have Noah Zacharin,
www.noahsong.com one of Canada's finest acoustic guitarists, singer song writers and poets in the house. Noah, also known as Big Daddy Z, enchanted the audience with his clear acoustic guitar and beautiful vocal melodies as he played classic blues songs and his own originals. Noah, received his first guitar at age 9, wrote his first song at age 13, and began performing at 14. He is happy to say he still enjoys playing. He has produced 6 solo CD's with his latest called "Waiting on your Love". He has been quoted as "Deserving to be mentioned in the same breath as James Taylor and David Wilcox" ( Minor 7th). "The heart of a poet, the mind of a lyracist, the skill of a composer and the fingers of a musician" (Minor 7th). Time stood still as the focused crowd embraced his fusion of blues, folk and rock sound.
The evening was a showcase open mic for two new bands from Thornhill. The Skullcaps from Markham. The Shmooze Brothers from Vaughan.
It was the beginning of a new cultural appreciation for Thornhill music enthusiasts. There are aspirations to have more frequent open mic events and explore more talents hidden in the depths of Thornhill and Greater Toronto. If you have a talent and want a start this could be a venue for you!
Rock On,
The AdventureGuy
