Beaches Jazz Festival 2014 Featured Artist Conor Gains

Where would Toronto be without the Beaches Jazz and Blues Festival? The highlight of summer in Toronto the Good. All those nice Canadians walking peacefully on Queen Street listening to the diverse selection of artists next to all the shops. There are food vendors, clothing vendors (the best of which is Ends) and a great selection of local artists.

The social center of the Beaches is the Lion Pub, and stationed in front of it was the The Harmonica Player Blues Challenge 2014 winner Jerome Godboo www.jeromegodboo.com. As his accompaniment was this year's Toronto Blues Society New Talent Search winner Conor Gains www.connorgainsmusic.com. A 21 year old accomplished musician from Cambridge Ontario, Conor was composed and relaxed as he played with Jerome and added a few of his own tunes. I spoke to him before and after the show and he was helpful, humble and talented. Apparently, he learned guitar from his father and the rest is history. I have a photo  below showing his guitar style.

Further down the road was the Johnny Max Band www.johnnymaxband.com. Johnny Max the lead singer of the band is also the host of an internet blues radio show called Sunday Morning Soul. Johnny is a a very experienced entertainer and blues musician. In his own words he has one of the only all boys blues bands around.  Johnny also is fun for the kids as he gives out hats to those kids who like to dance in front of his band.

There is lots of talent to see on Queen street. This is the best of Toronto in my humble opinion. This night makes The Beaches is the best part of Toronto the Good.

Rock On,

The Adventure Guy
