Finger Lakes Cycling New York State

We had an excellent adventure in the Finger Lakes district of New York state this past long weekend. The cycling tour was based out of Geneva the gateway town to this pristine cycling area. THe trip was organized by Great Canadian Bicycle Tours a non profit cycling group out of Waterloo Ontario. While staying at a William Hobarth College a great and cheap accomodation. The location was ideal to take us into a variety of long rides in the area.

However, there was a secret surprise that occurred on our rain day. We went to hike at Watkins Glenn a great hike along a ravine filled with waterfalls and eroded stone. The walking area was buildt during the great depression and still holds up to the daily traffic in the ravine. Lots of tourist have found this neat spot. I have been to many water course trails but this one takes the prize for beauty. A real hidden treasure in New York State. There are local wineries in the finger lakes but nothing to write home about. Come to the Niagara district for much better wineries.

If you are looking for a change of pace and want to see the USA at its best go to the Finger Lakes and don't miss out on Watkins Glen hike.
