Upcoming Hump Events – Carlos Del Junco- August 26th

I have always enjoyed a good hump day, particularly since the Blues Society http://www.torontobluessociety.com invented Hump Day Blues. I have seen a few special blues artists such as Suzie Vinick and David Gogo . However I had to make a special mention of the August 26th event with harmonica master Carlos Del Junco  http://www.carlosdeljunco.com and Jimmy Bowskill. Carlos is considered the gold standard of harmonica players in Canada. A multiple Maple Blues harmonica player of the year winner, he is also a gold medalist in the Hohner Harmonica competition in Germany. I have studied harp with him and can to attest to his detail and refinement in studying this fascinating instrument. His lineage goes back to Howard Levy, the harmonica master of the greats.

Some of us may have seen Carlos in concerts on large bandstages etc. Some in nightclubs. What Carlos enjoys the most is to be in a setting that offers good sound acoustics so that he can present his art in a clear and undistorted manner. His harp in my opinion is more jazz induced as opposed to delta sounding blues. However, it is complex and sophisticated which those  with a discerning ear can appreciate.
The upcoming event in the Jazz Bistro http://www.jazzbistro.ca will allow that combination of intimate sound room and high fidelity musicians to produce a great evening. The Bistro is at 251 Victoria Street just behind Dundas Square in Toronto.
Look forward to seeing you there.
