The Maccabeats A Cappella Male Choir Phenomenon at Chabad of Markham

The Maccabeats www.maccabeats.com are an all male A Cappella  phenomenon in the way that they create rock music without any instruments. By the use of microphones and voice inflections this all male group from Yeshiva University is a real musical wonder. The group was started many years ago and as the students graduate from the colledge  new Maccabeats are trained for the choir. I had the pleasure to hear them live at the Chabad of Markham Channukah celebrations.

The Maccabeats  are from New York City, but their members are from around the globe. They follow in the footsteps of two  great Yeshiva University graduates, Simon and Garfunkle. As I see more of what the musical education of our  institutions create the more impressed I am. In fact these roots have spawned some of the greatest Christmas music ever written were by Jewish Artists, such as Irving Berlin's - White Christmas and Johnny Marks who wrote Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

The beauty of music is that it crosses all boundaries.
